What are SOC and COC?

A Shipper-owned Container (SOC) and Carrier-owned Container (COC) are distinguished with the ownership of each. The container owned by the business or the person shipping the cargo is called SOC. Whereas, the COC is owned by the carrier or the shipping company. It is rented to the consignees on a required basis.

What are the different types of containers ?

The different types of containers are reefer, dry, flat rack, and  open-top

What is a container number?

Every container has a unique alphanumeric code consisting of 4 letters and 7 digits assigned to a container as an identification tool.

What do the markings in a container indicate?

There are several markings and information displayed on the outer panels of a container which contain relevant information pertaining to tare weight, container number, date of manufacture, size, brand/carrier name, and container capacity.
